if you cannot find an answer to your question.
We are so confident that you will see, hear, learn, or taste something you haven't before, that we offer a 100% refund if you don't! Just let your tour guide know after the tour, and we'll refund you at the payment method with which you paid for your tour. (Honor system: we will take your word for it).
Have you ever visited a city and gone on a tour of a building or neighborhood, such as a ghost tour, architecture tour, or a pub crawl? These are all forms of "walking tours" or "sidewalk tours"! You typically meet at a specific location and a guide will lead you through the neighborhood, pointing out specific points of interest and sharing information as you go.
Food Tours are another type of "walking tour" or "sidewalk tour" -- usually food is the focus, sampling local, non-chain eateries, while seeing other points of interest in the neighborhood as well. Food tours are a type of "Culinary Tourism", which is an up-and-coming travel trend. However, they are fun for locals as well!
Do a web search for "food tours in (insert any city)", and you will find that they are becoming pretty common - and that their typical cost is usually between $65 to $100, depending upon the length of tour, the number of food samples, and the city.
Contrary to what you might think, the restaurants do not serve food tour guests for free, even though it is great advertising for them. They simply could not afford to. However, they do typically work on a budget with the food tour company. Each tour group will visit several restaurants, and BLVD Bites and Sites must reimburse each of them for their delicious food, plus tax, and server tip.
We have kept our BLVD tours as low-cost as possible, and still be able to compensate the participating restaurant and tour company sufficiently.
Besides, it's a fun way to spend a few hours with your family, friends, or the friendly strangers who you will meet on your tour - we hope you'll agree it's worth it!
Not at all! Aside from sampling delicious food from a variety of restaurants, coffee shops, or bakeries along the route, you will also be entertained for the duration of each tour with local history tidbits and art sightings you won't see anywhere else!
Unless you live in the immediate neighborhood of the tour, or have done some research on your own, chances are you may not be familiar with its unique features! A food tasting tour is a great opportunity to be a tourist in your own city, and locals just might find a few new favorite haunts along the way.
Infants or young children do not need a reservation, or to pay a booking fee, if they will not be participating in the food tastings. (You are welcome to share your tastings with them, of course!) Children who wish to have their own tastings do require their own booking fee. To keep things simple for the restaurants, we do not offer separate, smaller portions for children - therefore the cost is the same.
There will be one or two retail stores visited during each tour, with limited time allotted for guests to shop. You can also easily return to your favorite stores to shop more at the end of the tour.
Yes, there are restrooms at most locations along the way. Just ask your tour guide.
Yes, the tours are wheelchair and stroller accessible.
The Food Tours are held rain or shine.
RAIN/SNOW: On the very rare occasion when there is heavy rain or snow and ice, you may be notified that the tour for that date and time is canceled, and you would be refunded, or able to reschedule your tickets or receive credit for a future tour.
HEAT: On very hot days (90 degrees or more), no tours will be offered unless a customer requests it. We do provide free hand-held misting fans for each participant on hot days!
Comfort is key. We strongly recommend a hat or a parasol and sunscreen, as the sun is almost always shining. You will be on your feet the majority of the tour, so please wear comfortable walking shoes.
There are 5-6 stops per tour for food tastings which are designed to be the equivalent of a full meal in a grazing fashion. For the majority of people, there is enough food that a meal afterwards is not necessary. The "Short and Sweet" tour has less tastings, but we still recommend you do not eat before the tour.
You are able to specify dietary restrictions and food allergies when you book your tickets. Please be as specific as possible, so we can accommodate your needs to the best of our abilities. If we are unable to accommodate your specific needs at every restaurant, we will let you know and offer you a refund or reduced price for fewer tastings.
Water is served at most of the locations we visit; no other beverages are included, although at some stops we may be given alcoholic beverage tastings (21+). You may wish to bring along your own bottle of water, especially if it is a hot day. You may also purchase beverages along the tour routes.
Since there is such a wide variance in policies allowing or disallowing animals in food establishments, sadly, we cannot allow them on our tours.
Tipping is not mandatory or expected. However, it is customary in the industry if you had a great time and want to recognize the tour guide for a job well done. If you are so moved, any tips would be paid directly to your tour guide at the end of the tour.
